Do you want someone (maybe me) to add a new page on the No Sweat mode on DS Pocket Edition? There is also a new statue that is with this mode. I have currently have seen no trace of this mode on the wiki, so it would help to add it?
So now with the new standardized navigation bar, the top of the wiki became a little ugly. So I took a shot at it and changed its colour to be somewhat similar to that of the infobox title's background. I think it turned out fairly well, but I also thought about changing the colour of the buttons. You can see the edit buttons are now dark red/brown.
I would like your thoughts on that and if anything needs modification. If you might have also noticed, message backgrounds are a little pink, probably because they use the same customization as the buttons. I'm also thinking about making the nav bar a little lighter, more similar to table backgrounds, so that it isn't too eye-catching.
Edit: So I reverted button colours back to black. Didn't feel quite right to have them be even the darkest red I could get that still matched the game's tone. The colour before I reverted it was This. (HEX code is #600000)
I still kinda want something that matches the game's art style's tone.
Seriously, though. I'm still hanging around keeping an eye on the wiki's activity; it's just that I won't be editing much if at all, so there's that. Patrolling edits is the only thing I won't be doing as normal.
I'm the only active admin left, and my activity will be dropping greatly through the next couple of weeks, and even then, just one admin isn't enough. You have been very active and contributing greatly. Would you like to be an admin?
To a certain degree, yes. Stl1234 is busy with real-life work and can't be around for now, Anemicne is mostly inactive and Mentalistpro is...pretty much gone. By the way, Jand, you can become a Rollback here if you want to. You've been keeping eyes on comments, blogs and the forum. Would you like to be one?
You've reminded me, I gotta cross some names off that list. Also, the Manual of Style is outdated. There's a draft of an updated version here, but it's unfinished.
I hate to say this, but you're still unqualified. Most of your edits are comments and forum/wall posts, and article edits are mostly just some links without a large-scale edit. Just because it's been a year and a half doesn't mean you're necessarily experienced enough. You already are a rollback and custodian, which is more than enough from what I see.
Let's be fair, Mentalist's standards for promotions were low. Not like he didn't promote those who deserved it, though.
Nope. Which also reminds me, I'm going to have to revoke his privilages to keep only active admins on the Sysop list and also as per the Rules. I'll also leave him a message, and should he decide to come back, I can restore his rights.
Thousands of small edits, and yes, large-scale edits are a requirement for adminship. This requirement has been there all the time. The bigger your edit is, the more experience you generally gain, and knowledge about the available templates and codes in the source editor is also required. An admin isn't just there to fight vandalism, they're there to do what their name suggests: administrating the wiki. This includes moderating discussions, fighting vandalism, managing article layouts and protection, deleting/undeleting pages, blocking malicious users or vandals, customizing the wiki's skin and much more. Don't worry, a custodian is basically an admin, minus the ability to block users and managing the wiki's style and layout.
I won't let this evolve any further, because of the reason Jand mentioned.
I'm sure you'll make good use of it. Let me know when you decide.
And MMueck didn't even get a chance to reply because of all of these posts probably.
I would love to become an Admin, but I am currently working on a wiki of my own. It is hard for me to be active on this wiki while I am creating another one. I'm afraid that if I was given Admin rights, I would not be able to support the wiki well.
Besides, I don't think I am qualified, as I haven't even been on the wiki for a year, and I feel like there is still a lot for me to learn about Wikia. Hopefully, making a wiki of my own will help me understand the more complicated stuff.
Deiaa, thanks for considering me, I feel very honored!
On the one hand, I would love to be admin, working on improving this wiki. I worked very hard for the last one and a half years, not only by adding new SW and ANR content, but also by updating older pages and lists. I know how to extract information and images from the games, how to structure new pages, and how to update links, files and templates. And my passion for DS is still strong, even after 2 years of playing. Of course, I would still be making mistakes, cause I'm not a native English speaker and I still don't know every aspect of this wiki.
On the other hand, I am not entirely sure, what kind of new responsibilities would meet me being an admin, and how much more time I would be required to devote to this wiki than I am already doing. Especially if your activity will be dropping in the next weeks, Deiaa, managing this wiki is not something I would like to reponsible for by myself.
I also have to say, I am somewhat confused by some of the reactions here.
Between people claiming that they want the job and are more qualified than me, and people acting as if they had been offered the position, politely declining it and wishing good luck "finding a better alternative", I am not sure, wether having me as an admin, is something the majority could agree on.
So in the end, yes, I would like to do it, but only with the support of the community.
Oh, I'm really sorry, I just now realised this is on your wall! I thought Deiaa2002 were requesting Admins on the general discussions or something. I didn't mean to imply I was saying "good luck finding a better alternative", as if you weren't a better alternative. I totally want you to become a Admin, by the way. You have made a huge difference on this wiki.
The most notable new responsibilty is blocking vandals/malicious users, otherwise not much is going to really change. A lot of custodians' capabilities and responsibilites are also those of admins. New abilities include:
Ability of editing MediaWiki pages.
Ability of editing fully protected pages. (I'm not sure if custodians can already edit those, but I don't think so)
Ability of customizing the wiki's skin, style and navigation.
For mistakes in grammar/spelling, we all make those occasionally, myself included because I'm not a native speaker either, and from what I can see, you can speak English very well. For the time dedication, no extra will be needed. You are already contributing so much here. If you don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the wiki, don't bother dedicating more than you can; life always comes first. For managing the wiki "by yourself", I won't be gone, I will still be around, just less active than usual, and only through the next couple of weeks. For community support, well, you have my support, and I'm sure others will support, too. You are a gem here.
So, I've given you admin rights now. Not much more is required from you after this, so don't worry. Congrats!
Oh, and since coloured names and comment backgrounds have become a trend for admins on this wiki, would you like to have that? If so, you can edit MediaWiki:Wikia.css to specify everything yourself, or tell me what colour would you prefer and I'll apply it if you don't want to edit the code yourself.
