As you may have noticed, several articles detailing Components from the game files have been created, but their usefulness is a bit vague to me right now. I've contacted the creator and would like you to participate in the discussion here if possible. I've also notified SpikeGuy of this.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for kind of spamming you two lately.
(By the way, I got my hands on Hamlet, finally! But I have more exams coming in a couple of weeks, so I'm still gonna be dormant for now...)
Don't know. They may or may not. They probably will, but later on. Gamepedia has several communities that never joined Fandom, so it's likely they will let them be for now, but carry over features from both sites.
While I was editing the Lost Relics page it seems someone created a page for The Jeweled Truffle, and someone may decide to create one for The Blue Sow, the 2 previously unnamed Lost Relics. These items don't need their own page so would you or another admin please delete it or redirect it to the Lost Relics page? Thanks.
thank you for asking! You mean, a multi-page like the Tree page?
I am not sure if that would be the right way to go. There have been issues in the past with those pages not being displayed properly on some devices which is why we wanted to get rid of them at some point (which we obviously didn't follow through with). Also, I'm worried the page header wouldn't look good because of the long shop names.
Why do you think that would be the better way to go rather than having separate pages? Maybe we could hear from some other admins what they think about this.
Btw, thank you a lot for all the contributions lately!
No problem, I'm having a lot of fun doing this, editing the articles ! =D It's a real pleasure!
Oh so your idea is to create completely separate pages, and get rid of the "Pig Shop" one? Yeah that's a great idea too, personaly I just wanted to make something clearer than what we have now, because it's very long to scroll all the way down, and not very convenient... You're right, my first idea was to take example of the "Tree Page", but I wasn't aware of the devices issues
And yes, you are right about the long names, that was also a reason to contact you ^^ It felt weird when I thought about it so I wanted to ask an admin first, as it's a great change! :)
as far as I know, the Oscillating Fan was introduced with Hamlet DLC, so it's not available in the Reign of Giants or Shipwrecked DLC.
Log Raft, Row Boat, Cargo Boat and Snakeskin Sail are both included in Hamlet and Shipwrecked (at least in the beta), while Hamlet additionally has the Cork Bowl Canoe and Shipwrecked all the other stuff.
in recipes.lua you can see type for the oscillating fan is RECIPE_GAME_TYPE.COMMON so all hamlet compatible world will have it, same goes for the sprinkler. I have tested them in ROG & Shipwrecked they work for drying effect perfectly. The sprinkler works perfectly in shipwrecked too.
Oh, I see. We're generally looking at game and downloadable content, not worlds. So someone who doesn't own Hamlet will not have the Fan, therefore it shouldn't be shown as being included in RoG or SW.
Hello. I have tried to make another page, this time focused on making it better, adding extra info and links. Even took some screenshots of the item Gas Mask. Would you check it out for me please? I want to know if I'm doing it right, but mostly just help out. I think the information is readable and would help out people who looked at the page a lot.
So, I noticed that some of the foods for the Gorge had their own pages, most of which contained the "Edible Items" template at the bottom. Should we make a new template for Gorge foods, or should we add the Gorge foods to "Edible Items"?
I saw this thing in the Ocean when I was playing Shipwrecked and there was something that looked like a Barrel lying there. It had like a thousand health or so. When I tried to 'attack' it, it lit on fire and exploded, sending waves gushing out. I'm pretty new, so I was just wondering what it was?
Hey, I was poking around the Gorge recipe book page on the forums (and inspecting several things) when I came across a way to extract the images for the known foods as png files (the one I tried was 90 x 90). Here's a sample image:
Can we use those for the (upcoming) food charts on the wiki, or should we use files extracted from the game itself? Thanks!
we might even have to use these icons, because I can't find any of the foods in the regular place where all the 64x64 px inventory icons are kept (probably for surprise reasons). However, I'd suggest scaling them down to the regular 64x64 px size so they would fit into our Recipe template.
Edit: Yep, I've found all the xml files for the foods inventory icons, but no actual tex files. They seemed to have kept them on their own server on purpose.
Sorry for not being able to contribute a lot so far, Klei has been so kind to launch the new event right on my birthday. I'll upload a few icons now and then I'll be back tonight in full swing! I love the new event!
Also, I'd like to take both your and SpikeGuy's opinions on the table I've been working on for documenting the recipes. I do not plan to release it until I'm sure it's the best of the best available - there are lots of recipes with lots of info for each -, or at least when everyone agrees it's as good as can get. I'm especially keen on the layout for the recipes, since they are not written in stone. The layout I'm currently using is simply a placeholder.
The table looks very good, I can imagine some of its columns will probably get smaller when we replace the text with the respective images. I initially thought of using the Recipe template, but that makes no sense considering how much additional information has to be displayed for each recipe. So on my part that's a go!
